Thurman Ray Dickens, 81, of Old Fort, TN, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at Bradley Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Blue Ridge Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Dill Cemetery with Poole Serenity Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Poole-Serenity Funeral Home of Cleveland.
Mr. Dickens was born November 25, 1942, in North Carolina to the late Clarence and Ethel Rogers Dickens. Mr. Dickens later joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country. After his military career he worked at the Ford Motor Plant. He would have a second career for over 20 years as a truck driver with over 1.5 million miles as a safe driver. Mr. Dickens loved playing on his tractor and talking to anyone who would listen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Daroam Dickens and Richard Dickens; sisters, Sally Blackburn, Daisy Dickens, and Mary Ann Dickens; brother-in-law, Red James.
Survived by his wife, Katherine Dickens, Old Fort, TN; his sons, Thurman Ray Dickens, Jr (Mitzi) Ocoee, TN, Ken Dickens (Torie), Old Fort, TN, and Danny Dickens (Cheryl), Ocoee, TN; grandchildren, Tyler, Dakota, Ashlynn, MacKenzie, Kerigan, and Bryan; great grandchildren, Eli, Gabby, Avery, Cohan, Briley, and Aiden; one sister, Carolyn James; brother-in-law, Travis Backburn;
