Rufus “Lamar” Faircloth, age 80, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Tennova Hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee. Lamar was born to the late Rufus and Minnie (Brewer) Faircloth in Cordele, Georgia. He enjoyed his work with the United States Postal Service, Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee for fifty years before retiring. The National Safety Council presented him a plaque upon his becoming a One Million Mile Club Member for attaining 1,000,000 miles or 30 years of Safe Driving without a preventable incident. He attended Mt. Olive Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee. He loved reading and discussing many books with his wife, Faye, the love of his life. Lamar grew up in the Hatley community and graduated from Pitts School. He had an exceptional 12 year attendance record with only one week absent due to a bout with measles. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marla Joy Faircloth; brothers, Franklin Faircloth, James White (Carol), and Rayford Faircloth; brother-in-law Hillis Rhodes; mother and father-n-law, Johnny and Christine Teams; and sister-in-law, Patty Greenway. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Faye Teams Faircloth of Cleveland, Tennessee; siblings, Linda F. Turner and husband Freddy of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dorothy Rhodes of Rochelle, Georgia, Bobbie Jean Wilson and husband Mary of Abbeville, Georgia; Raymond Faircloth and wife Sandra of Ocilla, Georgia, Roy Faircloth and wife Patsy of Pitts, Georgia; sister-in-law Patricia of Barney, Georgia and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 prior to the service at Rainey Family Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be immediately following at Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele, Georgia
