Robert Joseph Leffew

Robert J. Leffew, 79, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his home. He was born September 24, 1943, in Dayton, Tennessee. A graduate of Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (currently Tennessee Tech University) with a liberal arts degree. Robert was a retired, dedicated educator for 33 years in the Bradley County school district (Charleston High School and Trewhitt Junior High School). He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was a smiling, welcoming face at the doors each Sunday morning.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Kibler Leffew; parents, Walter and Ola Belcher Leffew; sister, Lorena Sneed; brothers, Ray Leffew and Rev. Carlos Leffew.

Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tanya (Leffew) and Donnie Gaines; Cleveland, TN, his very special grandson, Wesley Gaines, Cookeville TN.; Donnie’s parents who were just like family, Don and Sandra Gaines, Cleveland, TN.; sisters, Ginny Goff, Roberta Singleton, and Betty Biddle, all of Chattanooga.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3119 Spring Place Road, SE in Cleveland, TN.
