Richard Whitfield Painter

Richard Whitfield Painter, 74, passed away peacefully in his apartment at Morning Pointe in Ooltewah, TN on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Richard was diagnosed with Parkinson’s over 27 years ago.  He fought a long courageous (he never said never) battle for the last 9 years with his Windstone family and other close friends by his side.  

Richard held a BA of History from Presbyterian College, Clinton SC and was a member of the Sigma nu fraternity.  He was a BELIEVER!  And an Army helicopter pilot.  He worked for Michelin in Production Management and retired with Abbott Labs as a Logistics Data Manager.  “DICK” as we called him, was a great golfer and was the proud owner of a Hole in One plaque from Windstone Golf Course, Ringgold TN.  He loved to make jokes and pull pranks and would grace us all with his terrific smile and those fabulous baby blues!!!  He will be greatly missed!!!    

He was predeceased by his parents Virginia and Thomas Painter of Draper Valley, VA. 

He is survived by his brother Preston (Janis) Painter, his son Thomas Painter and his 2 grandchildren; whom he loved very much! 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Windstone Golf Club Grill, 9230 Windstone Drive, Ringgold, GA 30736.
