Philana Darcell Green, affectionately known as "Phil",was born on June 17, 1964 in Brockton, Massachusetts. She was the daughter born to the late Jesse and Louise B. Green. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after a long-standing battle with illness.
Philana received her formal education in Brockton's Public School System. After graduation, she spent time in Houston, Texas, and Muskogee, Oklahoma before making her home in Columbus, Georgia to be near her late great-aunt Clara Johnson. Having accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, she joined Friendship Baptist Church in Columbus Georgia. Philana worked in the food service industry until her ill health prevailed.
Our mom will be remembered for her love, wisdom, understanding, and giving of her time. She never met a stranger and taught us to accept people just as they were without judgement. She loved the outdoors and friendships with neighbors came naturally. Her patience and affection in taking care of her grandchildren really made her life very full and happy.
Cherished memories of her life and love will be forever shared by her children, Natasha J. Riser, and Nicholas Green; grandchildren, JaQuentin Fudge, Joseph Riser, Jamya Riser, Jamia Riser, Nickera Green, Michaela Ford, Ce’Azia Kowell, Austin Green, Autumn Murray, Aubrey Singletary, August Washington, and Audii Green; an aunt, Lois Brown of Columbia, MD; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Philana will be truly missed and will remain "The Wind Beneath Our Wings".
We know that you are now resting
Your struggles on earth are through.
You are safely home with Jesus
He knows what's best for you.
