Nancy Chambers Lindner passed away on June 14, 2020, her 85th birthday. She was born in Cleveland in 1935 to Max Chambers and Edith Sharp Chambers. At 17, she began working for Western Union Telegraph, located in The Cherokee Hotel, until the office closed. She went on to manage The Scottish Inn hotel and restaurant for ten years, and retired from A&R Knits.
Nancy attended Wesley United Methodist Church and volunteered with the church through several organizations. She dearly loved her church family and they brought much comfort and joy to her life.
Nanny, as she was known to family, loved to garden and cook for her family. The opportunity to provide for others, to enjoy the company of her children and grandchildren, was her great joy, and "I love you" was her favorite saying.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 63 years, Carl Lindner, whom she greatly missed.
She is survived by her sister, Sandra Hamilton of Charleston; children: Mike Lindner (Connie), Kim Burns (Junie), and Mark Lindner (Sherrie); grandchildren: April, Casey, Nick and Tish; great-grandchildren: Kelsie, Maddie, Gracie, Ava Claire, Knox, Kadden, Titus, Haden, Tyler and Kayleigh. Nanny was looking forward to the arrival of her great-great-grandson Bodhi in September. Nancy is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who meant the world to her, and close friends Pat and Sonny Hicks.
A Memorial Service will be conducted by Reverend Chris Rouse at the Wesley Memorial Garden at a later time.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wesley Memorial Garden Fund, 3405 Peerless Road, Cleveland, TN 37312
Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
We invite you to send a message of comfort and view the Lindner family guestbook at www.serenityfunerals.com.
