LeRoy Charles Nelson was born in March 1936 in St. Paul, Minnesota and passed away on Monday, December 7th at the age 84 in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was a loving and supportive partner to his wife Pearl, as well as an amazing father to their three children Mark, Jeff and Karen. Known as “Roy” to many he was a very loyal friend who you could count on at any time. Roy was a Veteran of the US Army who owned and operated the Trailways Bus Station on Main Street in Laurel, Maryland for over 20 years. After retiring from Trailways Bus Station, he worked with the Howard County Transit Authority as a quality control manager for more than 10 years. Known as an exceptional Handyman, if it was broken people knew he could fix it. He and his wife of 56 years retired to their dream home in Cleveland Tennessee. He enjoyed gardening, relaxing on the front porch appreciating the changing of seasons and observing the stages of the moon.
Roy is survived by his wife, Pearl, son Jeff, daughter Karen and brother Charles. He has one granddaughter, Kylie, three grandsons: Ryker, Micah and Jacob, along with several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
The family will have a private ceremony in March. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations sent to First Baptist Cleveland (1275 NE Stuart Road, Cleveland, TN 37312) or Saint Theresa Church (900 Clingan Ridge Drive NW, Cleveland, TN 37312).
