Josephine ‘Jo’ Clayton, 80, passed away February 21, 2023 surrounded by her dearest loved ones. Jo was born April 5, 1942 in Baytown, Texas to Leonard and Hortense Collins.
Growing up, Jo loved to roller skate and ride her horses. She went on to become a special education teacher and bus driver for 40 years, but the job she loved the most was being a ‘Mimi.’ Jo devoted her life to helping others and loved more than anything to be surrounded by her family. She had a genuine light in her, and was profoundly loved by all. Josephine is remembered by her loved ones for being remarkably selfless, incredibly loving, and hilariously sarcastic, when appropriate. Her favorite place to be was surrounded by family, and it is only fitting that she left earth the same way.
She is survived in life by her loving husband Rusty Clayton, son, David (Rosanda) Clayton, daughter, Cheryl (Beau) 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother and father.
Her family will be having an intimate burial Monday February 27, 2023 to commemorate her time on this earth. While Jo went by many names, her most famous one was Mimi, and she will be deeply missed.
