Joseph L. Sutorka, age 81, of Cleveland went to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence on July 2, 2021.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Edna and Joseph Sutorka, and brother, Terry Sutorka.
Originally from East Deer Township, PA, Joseph graduated from Dayton Bible College (Dayton, OH) in 1965. He was a bi-vocational minister for over 50 years with the the Church of the Open Bible and pastored churches in Pennsylvania, California, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, and Florida. Joe also worked in banking throughout his career. He retired from Bank of America, Tallahassee, FL in 2001. In his retirement he enjoyed hobbies such as stamp collecting and photographing old churches and covered bridges. He came to Cleveland in 2016, and he enjoyed attending church at Tasso Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Laura Sutorka; daughters, Bethany (Ron) Beene of Cleveland and Janey (Mark) Knipmeyer of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren Caleb, Hannah, and Sarah Knipmeyer; brothers Ray Sutorka (Beverly) and Wesley Sutorka both of Tarentum, PA; as well as may beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would also like to thank Caris Hospice (Chattanooga office) for their loving kindness and care.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Serenity Funeral Home, Cleveland, TN. Service to follow at 3:00pm in the Serenity chapel with Brother Kenny Isbill officiating. Interment will be at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Calhoun, TN. The service will also be live streamed via the Serenity Funeral Home Facebook page.
