On June 27, 2022, Jetaun C. Washington died peacefully in Cleveland, Tennessee after battling cancer. She was 69 years old.
Jetaun was born on August 28, 1952. She attended Washington High School in Washington, PA but graduated from Logan High School in Logan, WV after deciding she wanted to attend West Virginia State University. She was a proud WV State Yellow Jackets alumna. While at “State” she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and she celebrated her 50th Deltaversary in December 2021. After graduation she lived in Charleston for many years until relocating to Atlanta, GA for her job. Upon retirement, Jetaun moved to Cleveland, TN to be closer to her best friend and faithful caregiver Eula Goldston.
Jetaun was a HUGE sports fanatic, cheerleading for Washington and Logan high schools, as well as West Virginia State. She played tournament softball with her WV and GA friends and supported the Atlanta Braves. However, she saved her loudest cheers and boasts for her beloved Pittsburgh teams, especially the Steelers.
Jetaun was a very giving person in word and deed and very slow to complain. Throughout her illness when asked how she was feeling she would always reply, “I can’t complain.” She is leaving behind family and friends who will miss her immensely.
She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Sr. and Jacqueline Washington and her brothers Homer Jr. (Pete) and Landon.
Jetaun is survived by her daughter, Onika; her grandson, Aston; nephew Malik; and sister Dwana (Dee Dee); many cousins and friends.
To honor Jetaun's wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite you to celebrate Jetaun’s memory privately in your own way, or to honor her battle with cancer by donating to the American Cancer Society. The family will gather for a private memorial at a later time. We know that she will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for your understanding and prayers during this difficult time.
