Harry Alan Taylor

February 25, 1952 — February 23, 2020

SCPO Harry Alan Taylor, USCG, Ret., 67, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his home.  Born in Chattanooga on February 25, 1952 he spent the last 20 years in Bradley County.  He served his country as a Senior Chief in the United States Coast Guard.  Harry was a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church.  He was known as the “Music Man” when he volunteered at Life Care playing music for the residents.  Harry loved the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially the grandbabies. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn & Grace Williams Taylor; brother, Richard Taylor; and sons, Nikki Taylor and James Taylor.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 ½ years, Glenda Collins Taylor; children, Alan Taylor II, Aaron Taylor and Dalamar (Kateland) Taylor, all of Cleveland, Kristen (Jimmy) Melton of South Dakota and Marina Taylor of Kennesaw, GA; stepdaughters, Kellie Smith of Georgia and Kimberly Archie of South Carolina; 15 grandchildren; brothers, David (Nancy) Taylor of Birchwood, Bill (Loni) Taylor of Cherokee, NC and Frank (Brenda) Taylor of Ider, AL; brother-in-law, Jim (Tina) Collins of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews and other extended family; a host of friends; and special puppy, Ms. Sweetie.

A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 in the chapel of Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Cameron officiating.  The interment will follow in Flint Springs Cemetery with full military honors.

His family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
