Elmer Lee Swafford, 73, passed away Sunday, 26 September 2021, at his home in Cleveland. Serving in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War before settling in Cleveland. He retired after 20 years as a supervisor at Shaw Industries. He loved sports particularly, the Atlanta Braves and was a huge big Orange fan. He was a true family man, and godly man faithfully attending Peerless Road Church. Lee loved his children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Bertha Swafford; sister, Marlene Raines. Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Lois Swafford of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maria Swafford of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Dean Cheney of Charleston; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Eric Brown of Dunnellon, Fl; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Swafford of Cleveland; brother Harold Swafford of Copper Hill TN; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Family and friends will assemble 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery for a graveside services and interment, with full military honors. Reverend David Taylor will officiate. Playing of the bagpipes and release of white doves will conclude the services.
