Dale Hodgkinson, 88, of Cleveland, TN, died Thursday October 29, 2020 at home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born in Esmond Illinois, attended Fairdale Grade School and graduated from Monroe Center High School. He then served as a Corporal in the Korean war, where he had the privilege of playing Taps at a Memorial Service for Journalist Ernie Pyle. He served as a past president of the Genoa JC, in Genoa, IL. He was a former production manager at Tuttle Electric and Century Tool. He attended Faith Center, Restoration Bible Church, and Westwood Baptist Church. He loved to golf, fish and play his trumpet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sylvia Hodgkinson (Belvidere, IL); wife, Charlotte (Crickett) Hodgkinson; one son, Rodney Keith Hodgkinson (Kirkland, IL); two brothers, Earl Hodgkinson (Belvidere, IL), and Donald Hodgkinson (Grand Rapids, MI); and one granddaughter, Christy Ann Hodgkinson (Kirkland, IL).
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Kathy Hodgkinson of Kirkland, IL, and Allen and Julie Hodgkinson of Rockford, IL; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Mark Hendershott of Cleveland, TN; five grandchildren, Wesley (Scarlett) Hodgkinson, Brandi Gubala, Michael Hodgkinson, Luke Hendershott and Matthew Hendershott; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan Gubula, Kierstynn Hodgkinson, Anthony Hodgkinson, Knox Hodgkinson, Lennon Hodgkinson, and Major Mae Hodgkinson; and one special nephew, Tony (Patty) Sproles.
A graveside service only, for family and friends, will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at The Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN, with Pastor Mark Hendershott officiating.
