Beulah "Boots" Edith Blankenship, age 92, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Cleveland.
She was born in Bradley County on September 9, 1926 to William Hardin Hancock and Harriet "Hattie" Angeline Davis Hancock.
Boots was a long time member of Lebanon Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday School secretary and an assistant Sunday School teacher. She loved children and helped with many of the children's Christmas plays. In later years, Boots attended both Evening Light and Community Hall churches.
Mrs. Blankenship worked for many years as a substitute teacher in the Bradley County Schools. She worked for a time at Delta and Kellman Manufacturing, and then returned to work in the schools in food service and as a cleaning supervisor for the Cleveland City Schools until she retired at age 80.
Boots was a former member of the Eastern Star in Cleveland. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious treats. Her family was precious to her, and she was always ready to join in any activities and fun.
Boots was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jesse L. "Jack" Blankenship. She was also preceded by her brothers Joe, Jim, and Bill Hancock as well as her sisters Lula Melton and Dorothy Prince.
Mrs. Blankenship will be missed by her sons, Gary (Roni) Blankenship of Chattanooga and Tim (Kristine) Blankenship of Cleveland; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Blankenship of Ringgold, Georgia; Mark (Andrew) Blankenship of New York City; Brandon Strickland and Megan Tigue of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Caleb, and Greyson.
Memorial services will be Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
