Betty Jeane Hewitt

April 27, 1931 — September 24, 2022

Betty Jeane Lawson Hewitt 91, of Cleveland passed away at Bradley Healthcare & Rehab on Saturday, September 24, 2022.  She was born April 27, 1931 in Cleveland to her father and mother, August and Bobbie Lawson.  She has been a resident of Cleveland her entire life.  Betty was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and this gave her strength to endure to the end.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold Van Hewitt; mother, Bobbie Marshall Lawson Gee; father, August Owen Lawson; stepfather, John Henry Gee of Polk County; brother, Jarvis Jack (Jo) Lawson of Clermont, Ohio; daughter n law, Charlotte Vernon Hewitt; brother & sisters n law, Bill Hewitt (Nancy) of Georgia, Hoyt Hewitt of McMinn County, Helen Earls (Andy), Dean Hewitt and Bobby Dale Hewitt, all of Cleveland.

Survived by her sons, Gary Hewitt (Evelyn), Bobby Hewitt, Darrell Michael Hewitt, Barry Hewitt (Robin), all of Cleveland; sister, Linda Gee Emerson (Ken) of Polk County; brothers & sisters n law, Jean Varner Hewitt of McMinn County, Dorothy Hewitt Overgaard of Louisiana, Betty McGuire Hewitt, Buddy Hewitt (Gloria), Martha Wade Hewitt, Mickey Hewitt (Shirline), all of Cleveland; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We would like to thank the staff on wing 4 at Bradley Healthcare and Rehab Center for their wonderful care.

There will be a private family graveside service as Betty wished.  The interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.

Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
