Benny Goodwin, age 77, of Charleston, departed this life on Sunday morning, February 3, 2019, at his son’s residence. Born in Chattanooga on November 12, 1941, to the late Earl and Idella Goodwin, he had spent a majority of his life in Bradley County and was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard. He was retired from Duracell after 25 years of service and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Hart; and brothers, Edwin Goodwin and Don Goodwin.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Priscilla) Goodwin of McDonald, Greg Goodwin of Charleston, and Angela Goodwin of Cleveland; grandchildren, Bradley Goodwin, Trevor Goodwin, and Nathan Fiedler; great-grandchildren, Hayden Goodwin and Lily Goodwin; sisters, Kitty Maycann of Chattanooga and Barbara Hanson of Rossville, GA; brothers, William (Janet) Goodwin of Birchwood and Sonny McKinney of Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews, and several other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life and Home going will be held at 1p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Ronnie Pearson officiating. Interment will follow at Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the funeral home.
