Obituary: Sydnor Freeman, age 79, of Reliance, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014. A native of Monroe County, he had lived most of his life in Polk County. He was an avid gardener and loved canning. He and his late wife were well known for caring for elderly family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Freeman; two brothers Joel and Richard Freeman; and an infant son, Baby Boy Freeman.
He is survived by one son, Denzil Freeman of Reliance, and two daughters and sons-in-law, Sissy and Johnny Hubbard, and Rena and Glen Rhodes, all of Benton; six grandchildren, Brian, Amanda, and Jeremy (April) Freeman, Michael (Christy) Thompson, Christy (Scott) Dalton, and Nicholas Thompson(fiancé, Kayla Allison); great-grandchildren Hannah, Daisy, Kylie, Sydda Jo, Michael, Joshua, Lauryn, Makenzie, Stanley, Samuel, Nicholas, Jr., Kaitlyn, and Kelcie; two brothers, Calvin Freeman of Dalton, GA, Leon Freeman of Englewood; nine sisters Gladys Freeman of Monroe County, Edith Miller of Knoxville, Baxi Thompson of Chattanooga, Mary Ruth Atwood of Riceville, Mildred Donahue of Delano, Alma Leamon of Ringold, GA, Faye Peeler of Loudon County, Margaret Wilson of Madisonville, and Brenda Watson of Madisonville; and two aunts, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other extended family members and friends.
Service: Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Pete Morgan officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 for a graveside service. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a gracious thank you to Caris Hospice for their kindness and excellent care.
