Obituary: Glenna Rose Burke Black, age 86, of Athens, passed away Saturday evening, April 12, 2014, at a local healthcare facility. The daughter of the late Elmer and Nora Knox Burke, she was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and attended First Baptist Church of Etowah. She and her husband owned and operated Spurlock Fire Alarms for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Black, who passed away in July, 2013; and sister, Hazel Carter.
She is survived by her brother, Jimmy Burke and wife Dodie of Riceville, granddaughter, Robin Garrett and husband Tony of Madisonville; great-grandson, Blake Garrett of Madisonville; daughter-in-law, Helen Black of Athens, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Morgan and husband Emmett of Athens. Two nieces, one nephew, and other extended family members and friends also survive.
Service: The family will hold private services at a later date.
