Obituary: Allene Melton Stewart, age 70, of Etowah, passed away Friday morning, April 4, 2014 at a local healthcare facility. The daughter of the late George and Mattie Lattimore Melton, Allene was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Riceville. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and being involved with her church when she was able.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Parnick Stewart; brothers, Dwight Melton, Paul Melton, and Herman Melton.
She is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Spencer and Jessie Melton of Etowah, James and Patricia Melton of Trenton, GA, Hoyt and Shirley Melton of Athens, and Jerry and Carlota Melton of Etowah; and a special friend Mary Anderson of Etowah. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
Service: A Graveside service was held at 2p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery. There was no formal visitation at the funeral home.
