Obituary: Gary Clay Ferris, age 55, of Athens, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was veteran of the United States Navy and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, all kinds of music, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Burt Ferris and Reba Bidwell Wallace; and brother, Charles Douglas Ferris.
He is survived by son, Jason Ferris of Athens; grandson, Hunter Ferris of Athens; nephew Chris Ferris and wife Jennifer of Athens; niece Shannon Boyd of Madisonville, and great niece, Elizabeth-Ann Ferris of Athens. Several other extended family members and friends also survive.
Service: A private family graveside will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Gary’s memory.
