Obituary: Shelby Jean Self Morrow, age 59, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at a local hospital. The daughter of the late John Self and Gladys Jean Dillard Goss, she was born in Copperhill, TN and spent the majority of her life in Polk and Bradley Counties. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Morrow, and a brother, Jackie Self.
She is survived by her five children , Alan Morrow of Cleveland, Anthony Morrow of Ringgold, GA, Renee Grand and husband Hubert of Robbinsville, NC, Christie Williams and husband Douglas of Rocky Face, GA, and Loyd Goss and fiancée Cassandra Morrow of Athens; siblings, Arlene Simons and husband Jimmy of Benton , Jenny Coker of Etowah, Lucky Self of Polk County, Herman Self of Polk County, Dot Self of Ocoee, Charles Self of Arizona, Anna Mae Millican of Dothan, AL, and Marie Cross of Cleveland; 7 grandchildren, and other extended family members also survive.
Service: A graveside service will be held 3p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery in Robbinsville, NC.
The family will receive friends from 12-1p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
