Obituary: James Haskell Shadden, age 72 of Tellico Plains, TN passed away Thursday, February6, 2014 and is now in the presence of God. He was retired from the U.S. Army and had served in the Vietnam War. He was featured in the book “We Were Soldiers Once and Young”. Mr. Shadden was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; James Spence Shadden and Lillian O’Dean Morgan.
Survivors include his wife Henrietta of Tellico Plains, step-father; Luke McDonald of Etowah, one son; Hank Shadden of Athens, TN. three daughters; Tamera Waldrop of Etowah, La Vern Chvilicek of Libby Montana, Audra Triplett of Athens, TN, five grandchildren; Eric, Katlyn, Kaleb, Karan, Daniel, one great grandson; Ethan, two brothers; Virgil Shadden of Athens, TN. and Sam Shadden of Ringgold, GA; two nephews and one niece also survive.
Service: A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Madisonville, TN.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 12-2 P.M. at the Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Etowah.
