Obituary:  Willie Blackwell, age 60, of Etowah, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014, at a local hospital. The son of the late Clifton Bradley and Willie Ruth Raper Blackwell, Willie was born in Dalton, GA, and lived most of his life in Etowah. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Ann Blackwell and Peggy Curtis; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Raper.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Mendiola and husband Joel, Crystal Miller and husband Eddie, Samantha Dillard and husband Jason all of Madisonville, and Tracey Blackwell of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Aaron Turek, Miguel Gonzalez, Andera Gonzalez, Sara Mediola, Joel Mendioa III, Eddie Ray Miller, Dillon Miller, Dakota Blackwell Young, Jasmeen Moreno, and Slvia Moreno; sisters, Barbara Harrill and husband James of Madisonville, Joyce Raper of Etowah, and Sherry Price of Dalton, GA; brother Bobby Blackwell of Etowah; and former wife, Mary Miller of Madisonville.Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and close friends also survive.

Service: Funeral services will be conducted at 7pm Tuesday, January 28, 2014, from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 11 am Wednesday at Liberty Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
