Obituary: Patricia Jane Parker Watson was born February 16, 1925, and died at home in Athens, TN on January 4, 2014. She was 88 years old.
Pat was a long-time resident of Kingsport, TN and moved to Athens, TN in May 2013 to be close to her family. She graduated from Fassifern School in Hendersonville, North Carolina, attended Wellesley College in Wellesley MA, and graduated from Katherine
Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, MA. She moved home to Kingsport to work at Tennessee Eastman where she met her husband, Peyton Watson, May 2, 2013, they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
They have two children, Howard Watson and wife Jane Chastain of Athens, TN, and daughter Vivien Watson Ruiz and husband Ted Ruiz, missionaries in the Philippines. They have three grandchildren: David Ruiz and wife Liz of Indiana, Rebecca Ruiz of Vietnam, and Sara Ruiz of California. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Gideon of Kingsport, TN and brother, Bob Parker and wife Barbara of San Antonio, Texas.
Pat was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport, TN. Through the church she served as Sunday school teacher, altar guild volunteer, ECW member, volunteer with the Kingsport Community Ministry Center (KCMC), and served as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
She was a member of Kingsport Junior League, Marathon Bridge Club, Kingsport Learning and Continuing Education, and the Delphian Club. She and her husband were charter members of Ridgefield's Golf and Country Club and Grandfather Mountain Golf and Country Club.
Service: The memorial services will be conducted by Rev. Hendree Harrison at 11:00 Saturday, January 18th, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Athens, TN. Receiving of friends will follow immediately after the service in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 161 East Ravine Road, Kingsport, TN 37660 or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 123 South Jackson Street, Athens, TN 37303.
