Obituary: JOHNNIE HUGH HODGES, age 64, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Erlanger Medical Center. The son of the Late Muriel Cain Hughes, J.H. was born in Knoxville, Tn, Spent most of his life in central Florida, before moving to McMinn County in 2011 from Marietta, GA. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of North Englewood Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed to hunt, fish and watch wrestling. He was a good father and a loving husband.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Terri Hodges and Linda Moser.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Halcomb Hodges; children, Sammy Hodges of Florida, David Womack of Etowah, Mary Sewell of Bonifay, FL, Alda Corkery of Bonifay, Fl, and Johnny Hodges, Jr of Cartersville, GA; brothers and sisters, Danny Hodges and wife Pat of Athens, Mary King and husband Rick of Decatur, Dorothy Martin and Husband Howard of Athens, Joyce Vann and husband Danny of Etowah, Jerri Hodges and wife Joe Alta of Athens and Kathy Bowers and husband Ferrel of Sweetwater. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and good friends also survive.
Service: Funeral services were held 3p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Crain officiating. Burial followed in the Hampton Cemertery.
