Obituary: Janice Marie McManaman Fairbanks, age 66, of Athens, passed away Saturday morning, January 11, 2014, at her residence. Known affectionately as “ Mama Jan” , she was born in Oildale, CA and has lived in McMinn County for the past 42 years. She was an excellent cook and was always willing to help anyone in need. She truly had a heart for others and was selfless in every way.
She was preceded on death by her son, Jamison Lee Evseenko.
She is survived by her children, Patrick McManaman and wife Pam of Etowah, Savannah Lunsford and husband Danny of Delano, and Joshua Fairbanks and fiancée Karen Pratt of Athens; grandchildren, Logan McManaman, Gavin Fairbanks, and Tucker Fairbanks; and longtime friend Debbie Bright of Athens. Several other extended family members and friends also survive.
Service: A Celebration of Mama Jan’s Life will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, January 16, 2014, from the Glen Lowe Dining Room at Tennessee Wesleyan College. She requested a potluck, so bring a covered dish if you can but it is not required. Drinks will be provided.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the McMinn County Humane Society.
