Obituary: Agnes “Aggie” Marie Murphy, age 51, of Delano, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving children, on Friday, January 10, 2014. Born in Munich, Germany, Agnes grew up in Louisville, Kentucky before moving to this area in 1985. She spent six years as a top Customer Service Representative for Whirlpool. She was an active member of Delano Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, and took on the responsibility of making and creating decorations and artwork for church activities. Agnes was the most loving and devoted mother to her three children. She was a loyal and genuine friend to those around her. Her uplifting spirit made an impact on those who were lucky enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Josephine Ritchie, and brother, Michael VanPortfleet.
She is the mother of three children; Mikey Murphy and special friend Maggie Wilson of Benton, Chrissy Carroll and husband Nathan Carroll of Athens, and Cassie Cantrell and husband Nick Cantrell of Cleveland; Grandson, Major Carroll of Athens; Special friends Don and Donna Longworth of Delano. Several other extended family members and close friends also survive.
Service: A celebration of Aggie’s life will be conducted 7pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Powers officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
