Obituary: JOHN ROBERT “ JOHNNY “ HUGHES, age 78, of Etowah, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at a Madisonville Healthcare center. A native of Chillicothe, OH, he has lived the past several years in McMinn County and was of the Church of GOD faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a heart for helping others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine Bennett Hughes; sister, Janet Conner; and brothers, Joseph and Mitchell Hughes.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca Sue, Mary Ellen Carroll, John Edward Hughes, Rickey Allen Hughes, Roy Lee Hughes, Amy Louise, and Danny Hughes all of Chillicothe, OH; sister, Lunarva Marie Mumford of Wooster, OH; brothers, Richard Hughes and wife Carla of Chillicothe, OH and Roger Hughes and wife Deborah of North Canton , OH; special friends, J.L> Gentry and wife Shirley of Etowah, and a host of distant relatives and friends.
Service: A graveside service will be held 2 p.m Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Etowah Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
