Obituary: JOAN ALBERTA PACE BERNARD, age 73, passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at her residence. The daughter of the late Jack and Pauline Malone Pace, she was born in Athens and lived in California, and most of her life in Virginia before moving back to McMinn County 20 years ago to be closer to her elderly parents. She was a 1958 graduate of Deep Creek High School in Virginia and worked many years as a court clerk in Portsmouth, Virginia. After she mob moved back to Etowah, Joan worked at Anderson Drugs and became a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was and avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her brother, James Pace.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Dennis Bernard of Etowah and Tony Bernard and wife Lori of Etowah; grandchildren, Tiffany Bernard of San Diego, CA, Jacob Bernard of San Diego, CA, and Jackson Bernard of Etowah. Several extended family members and friends also survive.
Service: A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held 7P.M. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. A gathering of friends will be from 5-7P.M. prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
