Obituary: Donal Ray Shaw, age 69, of Athens, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at his residence. A native of Waxahachie, TX, he has lived in the McMinn County area for the past 40 years. He served as a supervisor at Charisma Chairs for many years and most recently worked at Exel Inc. He was an avid NASCAR and Dallas Cowboys fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ruby Carlton Shaw; brother, L.D. Shaw, and mother-in-law, Shirley Givens.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Donna Shaw of Athens; children, Nicole Shaw of Athens, Monica Prater and husband Richard of Waxahachie , TX, Kevin Shaw and wife Cathleen of Waxahachie, TX , Don Shaw,Jr. and wife Alesa of San Angelo, TX; sisters-in-law, Lucille Wilkins of Sweetwater and Merle Shaw of Waxahachie, TX; special friends, Joe Crisp , Billy Brown, Nikki Gunter, Robin Wilkins, Cesily Cox and Layna Cox; 3 grandchildren,1 great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service: A celebration of Donal’s life will be held 7P.M. Wednesday from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the McMinn County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
