Obituary: DANNY BIVENS, age 59, of Athens, passed away Thursday , October 17, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center. The son of the late Frank and Idanette Pickel Bivens, Danny was born in Aiken, South Carolina and had lived most of his life in MCMinn County. He was a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church and was an author of Science Fiction novels and screenplays. His passions in life were being a science visionary and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Creasman.

He is survived by his daughters, Inga Acebedo and husband Antonio of Charleston, Danielle Bivesn of Etowah, and Jessica Pinilla and husband Benjamin of St Louis , MO; grandchildren, Vera Acebado , Zyhrina Acebado, and Zachariah Meres; sister Sara Gail Rogers and husband Bill of Etowah; brother Ronnie Bivens and wife Patsy of Benton. Special friends Ricky Dills , James Webb, Linda L. Carver, and Writing partner Jerry Seward , along with several nieces, nephews, cousins , and other extended family members and friends also survive.

Service: A Celebration of Danny’s Life will be held at 7p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Mason officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home .
