Obituary: Willie Beniford Jackson, age 61, of Etowah, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Erlanger Medical Center. The son of the late Mattie Mae Jackson, Willie was born in Chattanooga and has lived in McMinn County for the past 15 years. He retired this year from the McMinn County Highway Department and prior to that was a marksman for the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Club. He was a member of the River of Life Church in Etowah and was a loving husband who cared deeply for his family especially his grandchildren. He had a great love for people and his community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Shelia McCroskey Jackson; children , Tracy Jackson who is stationed in the military in Germany, Willie B. Jackson, Jr. of Dewberry, GA, Sherita Dodd and husband Thomas of Etowah, and Graylon Ervin of Etowah; brother Charles Jackson and Wife Betty Lynn of Etowah; special friends Austin Tate and Randall Moss. Ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several other cousins, friends and other extended family members also survive.

Service: A celebration of Willie’s life will be held 3p.m. Sunday, October 20 in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Pastor Clifton Braden providing the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery with a dove release ceremony concluding the services. The family will receive friends from 2-3p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
