Obituary: Mildred Buckner Bowers, age 87, of Etowah, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Athens. A native and lifelong member of McMinn County, she was an active member of the McMinn Senior Center and attended Etowah Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Callie Johnson Buckner; husband Wheeler Bowers; sisters, Onith Williams and Ona Ray Wilson; brothers, Luke Buckner and Clayton Buckner.
She is survived by her sons, Willis Bowers and wife Jessie of Etowah, and Harley Bowers and wife Carolyn of Etowah; grandchildren, Craig Bowers and wife Heather, Kevin Bowers and wife Melissa, Travis Bowers and Wife Amy, Garreth Bowers, Gabrielle Bowers and Fiancee’ Kurt Loveday, Delbert Bowers, Kathy Richardson and Husband Aaron; great-grandchildren, Peyton Bowers and Noah Richardson; sister Dorothy Green of Polk County; brothers, J.L. Buckner of Polk County, Ralph Buckner and wife Mamie Lou of Polk County , and Reid Buckner and wife Alda Mae of Cleveland. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
Service: Funeral services will be conducted 7P.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Minister Brian Wynn officiating.
A graveside service will be held 10.A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Conansauga Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The Family will receive friends from 5-7P.M. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
