Obituary: Parnick William “P.W” Jones, age 80, of Etowah, passed away on Saturday, August 3,2013 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah, serving his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. P.W. retired from the CSX railroad after 44 years of service and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Etowah, serving as song leader for over 40 years. He most recently enjoyed being a historian on the Hiwassee River Rail.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Annie Lockhart Jones; son Michael Jones; sisters, Edna Cooley and Beatrice Foster; and brother, Earl Jones, Jr.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth King Jones; daughter, Sandra Watson and husband Lowell; grandchildren, Brian Watson and wife Miranda, Nicole Watson, and Stephanie Hafley and husband Adam; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Hafley, Hannah Hafley, and Annalynn Watson all of Etowah; sister Bernice Carroll and husband Kenneth, and several nieces , nephews and other extended family members also survive.

Service: Funeral services will be conducted 7p.m. Monday, August 5,2013, from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Blanchette officiating .

Graveside services will be 10.a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at McMinn Memory Gardens with Military Honors and Wyatt Freeman, Kent Bledsoe, E.W. Barron, Steve Coleman, and Blake Cook serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
