Obituary: Edna Catherine Davis Simonds, age 86, of the Goodsprings community, passed away Thursday morning, June 13, 2013, at her home. A native of Ducktown, TN, she has lived most of her life in McMinn County. She was a longtime member of Goodsprings Baptist Church and her strength, courage, love for family, and sense of humor remained strong until the very end.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Simonds; parents, Reverend Henry and Ora Mae Botts Davis; daughter, Robin Denise Simonds; sisters, Gladys Henson, Edith Choat, and Annie Davis; brothers, Jack, Bob, Wendell, Raliegh, and Buster Davis.
She is survived by children; Ron (Joyce) Simonds of Richmond, Virginia, Sharon Crisp of Etowah, Patricia (Ed) Culpepper of St. Matthews, South Carolina, Cathy Simonds Morrow of Englewood, and Phillip (Kathy) Simonds of Cleveland; grandchildren, Mark Simonds, Whitney Aho, Adam Crisp, Jonathan Crisp, Matthew Crisp, Michael Crisp, Chad Culpepper, Blake Culpepper, Hollye Morrow Proffit, and Gregory Simonds; brothers, Samuel Davis of Florida and Windom (Yonna) Davis of Cleveland. Nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Service: The family will receive friends from 3-5p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the funeral home with the Funeral service following at 5p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Davis officiating.
Graveside services will be held 11a.m Monday, June 17, 2013 from the Goodsprings Baptist Church Cemetery.
