Obituary: James “ Ray” Goforth, age71, of Reliance, passed away Friday morning, May 31,2013 at his residence. A native of Chattanooga, Ray lived most of his life in Polk County. He was a master craftsman and herbalist.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Lou Bean Goforth; sisters, Shirley Bryan and Anna Faye Darnell, and brother Garland Goforth.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mildred Smith Goforth; daughters, Mary Ellen McLeroy and husband Ken, Wanda Goforth, and Vicki Parnell; son James Keith Goforth; grandchildren Erik McLeroy and wife Brooke , Niki McLeroy all of Reliance, Adrianne and Alex Martin of Cleveland; great grandchildren, Lilliana, Stephen, and Aleigha; sisters Murial Taylor of Reliance and Virginia Rose of Cleveland, and a special cousin Naomi White of Cleveland and her children. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Service: A Graveside service will be conducted 3;30 pm Sunday, June 2, 2013 from Campground Cemetery with Dr. Derek Morris and Reverend Pete Morgan officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
