Obituary: DeWayne Larson, age 83, a resident of Athens, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home. He was the son of the late Harry and Nettie Back Larson and was a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin moving to this area in 1988. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from RexNord Corporation after 15 years of service. He was a member of the Athens Lutheran Church and was very involved in the Athens Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his second wife Lynne Breclaw and a brother Eugene Back
He is survived by: First wife Dolores Breit of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 2 sons, David Larson and wife Moira of Southwest Harbor, Maine and James Larson of Etowah who donated his kidney that helped extend dad’s life for 10 more years; daughter Kathlyn Ferraro of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Goodwin Back of Etowah; sister Audrey Vogel of Chrystal River, Florida and his little dog Toby.
Service: A memorial service will be held 11A.M. Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the Athens Lutheran Church with Reverend Jace Detrie officiating. The family will receive friends and a reception will be held after the service.
