Obituary: Douglas “Doug” Mayfield, age 57 of Etowah, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at Life Care of Athens. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he lived the majority of his life in McMinn County and attended the Athens SDA Church. He was a 1974 graduate of McMinn Central High School and worked for several years for his longtime friend, Joe Weaver, at Joe Weaver, CPA. He enjoyed music and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Mayfield; and step-mother, Faye Mayfield.
He is survived by his wife, Sandi Mayfield of Etowah; father, Bill Mayfield of Etowah; children, Alan North of Cleveland, Tracy Bremmer and husband Derrick of Ooltewah, and Gretchen Kittle of Athens; grandchildren, Dustin North, Makenzie Kittle, Makade Kittle, Hannah Bremmer, and Peter Bremmer. Several extended family members and good friends also survive.
Service: A celebration of Doug’s life will be conducted at 6p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home.
Interment will immediately follow in the Cambria Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4-6p.m. prior to the service on Thursday
