Obituary: Chester Lee Dixon , age 71, of Riceville, passed away Wednesday evening, February 11, 2015, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The son of the late William Sullivan and Ruby Wilson Dixon, he was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and a lifelong member of Double Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, was an avid square dancer, was a member of the Etowah Sugar Footers, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was employed several years as a janitor for the Claxton School, at Powell Hardware in Etowah, and at McMinn Villa Apartments.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Dixon on July 1, 2014 and siblings, Bill Dixon, Harold Dixon, Irene Rogers, and John Dixon.
He is survived by two daughters and spouses, Wanda Croft and husband Jerry of Englewood, and Susie West and husband Wesley of Riceville; eight grandchildren, Amanda Roberts and husband Jason, Sean West, Justin West, Jonathan West, Payge West, Austin West, Sarah West and Cole West; great-grandson, Noah Davenport Roberts; and sister, Elizabeth Green of Riceville. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends also survive.
Service: Funeral services will be conducted at 7p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015, from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Reverend Byron Talbot officiating.
Family and friends will gather at 2p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Double Springs Baptist Church Cemetery for the committal service with Justin West, Johnathan West, Wesley West, Jason Roberts, Jerry Croft, and Billy Green serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home
