Obituary: Peggy Sue Huff Prater, age 46, of Athens and Niota, passed away Saturday morning, January 24, 2015 at her residence. Born in Indiana, she had lived the last 21 years in McMinn County. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed sports and spending time with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith and was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Diamond Huff, Sr. and brother, Diamond Huff, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, David Prater of Niota; sons, Christopher Meade and wife Janial of Athens and Evan Prater of Athens; mother, Patricia Nelson Huff; siblings, Donna Henson and husband Tim of Athens, Glen Russell Huff , Cathy Jo Vance, and Kelly Jean Allen all of Floyd County ,KY and Deborah Ann Huff of Ohio; favorite Aunt Rose Taylor of Hindman , KY; grandchildren, Christin and Cali Meade of Athens and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Service: A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be conducted at 8p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Latham officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
