Obituary: April Powers, age 49, of Athens, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Starr Regional Medical Center. A native of Cookeville, TN, she had lived the last 11 years in Athens. She had worked in the lab at Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens the last 10 years and loved her fellow employees like family. She was very creative, loved life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Scott Cook.
She is survived by her daughter, Stormy Rodgers and fiancé Dung Tran of Morristown, TN; mother, Patty Fields of Baxter, TN; brother Isaac Cook of Baxter; sister and best friend, Jane Fox of Niota; special niece and nephew, Dustin Rodgers and Destiny Fox both of Niota. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends also survive.
Service: A gathering of friends will be held from 3-5p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Home.
