Obituary: Winona K. Hikalea , age 79, of Etowah, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. A native of Hawaii, she had spent the last 18 years in McMinn County and was of the non-denominational faith. She enjoyed yard saling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Solomon and Eleanor Pele; husband, John William Hikalea; and daughter, Susan N. Hikalea.
She is survived by her children, Ron Olive of Surprise, Arizona, Ginny Hikalea of Hawaii, Wendi McCord of Etowah, Donna Moses of Etowah, Don Smith of Etowah, and Darlyn Sakurai of Hawaii; grandchildren, Kaimana-O-Lani, Myah, Sera, Izzy, Annie, Nicole, Kamy, Jonnie, Christian, and Greg, all of Hawaii, and Ben Smith, of Etowah; sisters, Elena Evangalista of Hawaii and Ana Grembergh of Hawaii. Several other extended family members and friends also survive.
Service: A Celebration of Winona’s Life will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Home. We invite you to visit the Hikalea family guestbook and leave a message of comfort.
