Obituary: Karen Jane Smith, age 65, of Etowah, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at UT hospital in Knoxville. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church. She taught oil-painting classes to many children and adults for many years. She spent a lot of her time performing to the Senior Citizens’ Centers and many other venues throughout McMinn County playing her autoharp. She loved her Sunday school class, her church, and had a tremendous love for her children and her friends the “Group”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burkett and Mattie Bell Daughtery and one daughter, Angela Denise Smith.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Dailey, and her companion, Lonnie Tucker of Etowah; one son, Jason Smith, and companion, Melissa Parsons, of Etowah; one grandson, Connor Dailey, of Etowah. Several aunts, cousins, and close friends also survive.

Service: A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2014 at the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Preacher Doyle Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow in Conasauga Baptist Church Cemetery with Jason Smith, Connor Dailey, Cory Parsons, Cole Parsons, Ethan Parsons, Bronze Cowart, Michael Lewis, and Chris Ward serving as pallbearers. Ladies of the Joy Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12-3 Saturday at the funeral home. We invite you to visit the Smith Family Guest Book and send a message of comfort.
