Obituary: Rebecca J. McAlarney, 51, of Etowah, passed away on Sunday, June 21, at her home in Etowah after a two year battle with gastric cancer.
Most of her years were spent in Etowah, with a short time residing in Bristow, VA. She was the daughter of the late Cantrell W. Jack. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Frank and Jewel Burns, paternal grandparents Grady and Margie Jack, Uncle Ora Jack, and Aunt
Dean Nesbitt.
She was of Baptist faith. She attended and graduated McMinn Central High School in 1981. Rebecca worked at several manufacturing companies in Etowah, TN. She loved going trout and bass fishing, actually being a member of bass clubs while residing in VA. NASCAR racing was another sport she followed and loved.
Survivors include her husband, William McAlarney; mother, Eddie Mae Jack; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Darrell Dorr and Jessica and Jamal McCroskey; two granddaughters, Sierra Burger and Taneah McCroskey, all of Etowah; one brother and sister-in-law Ricky and Lisa Jack, from Athens; two step-sons Billy and Brian McAlarney from VA; a very special and dear friend Jack Barnett, they had the love of a father and daughter; special friends John and Linda Burris and Shelby and Kim Williams.
Service: A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral with Brother James Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Conasauga Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. A White Dove Release Ceremony will conclude the service.
