Obituary: Estelle “Mamaw” Roberts of Tellico Plains, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at a local hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County and longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Tellico Plains. After retirement, she traveled extensively with Knoxville Tours. She enjoyed hiking and spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Conway and Marie Daugherty Roberts; son-in-law, James Daniel; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Doc Roberts and Harold and Annis Roberts.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Daniel of Tellico Plains; two granddaughters and their spouses, Angela and Brad Stillwell of Etowah and Alisha and Shane Antrim of Tellico Plains; five great-grandchildren Acacia Stillwell, Kelby Stillwell, Braden Stillwell, Mason Antrim, and Addison Antrim; sister-in-law Ruby Roberts of Etowah; special niece Diana Harrill of Etowah; special nephew Leon Roberts of Madisonville; and nephews Gary and Clayton Roberts of Tellico Plains. Several other extended family members and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Tellico Plains with Rev. B.J. Wall and Rev. Bruce Newman officiating.
Service: Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Shady Grove Cemetery with Leon Roberts, Bobby Holt, Ronnie Hale , Victor Abernathy, Gennis Best , and Buddy Hunt serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Stillwell and Shane Antrim. A dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery.
