Obituary: W.C. “Creed” Young, 79, a resident of Ten Mile passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in an Athens hospital. He was a native of Tellico Plains and spent the last 40 years plus in Meigs County. He was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Local #43

W.C. was well loved by everyone and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Young Lawson; parents, Earl Young and Iva Mae Lovin Young; sister,Willowdean Miller; brothers, Blake Young and Reed Young; grandson, Josh Roberson.

Survivors include his three children: Teresa Wallace and husband, Matt of Lenoir City, TN, J.R. Young of Maryville and Richie Young and wife, Robin of Maryville; two grandchildren: William Scott Young and wife, Ashely and Kim Morrow and husband, Mitch of Decatur; three great-grandchildren: Inez Tallent of Madisonville, Gina Burris and husband, Ed of Knoxville and Avery Young and wife, Phyllis of Maryville; special nieces, Lisa Shepherd of Etowah and Lori Millsaps of Tellico Plains; several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends also survive.

Service: A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home of Etowah with lay speaker, Steve Tallent officiating. Military honors will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
