Obituary: Gwenelle “ Gwen” Freeman Johnson, age 83, of Delano, TN, passed away, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at a local hospital. Born in Martin, GA, she had lived and worked in Nashville before moving to Hixson, TN and then spending the last 22 years in Delano. She was retired from Shumacker and Thompson Law Firm in Chattanooga after many years of service.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Ethel Freeman, and a daughter, Lanova Johnson Boggs.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ben M. Johnson; twin sons and spouses, Maurice Johnson and wife Ginny of Klum, TX and Kevin Johnson and wife Jane of Harrison, TN; son-in-law, Ken Boggs of Signal Mountain; grandchildren, Lacy Elrod and husband James of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Aaron, Ethan, and Luke Johnson of Chattanooga, Alex and Jake Johnson of Klum, TX; siblings, Danny Sue White and husband Howard, Stanley Freeman and wife Martha, and Joy Mitchell and husband David all of Martin, GA, and great-grandchildren, Stormy and Nikoli Elrod. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
Service: A private graveside service will be conducted Monday, May 12, 2014 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with a White Dove release ceremony concluding the services.
The family will receive friends from 2-5p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the funeral home.
