Service Date: Saturday, July 25, 2015 John E. "Buddy" Cox, age 81, of Englewood, passed away Wednesday evening, July 22, 2015, at his home. The son of the late John Fred and Rossie Ann Gregory Cox, Buddy was born in Chatsworth, GA and lived in McMinn County the past 37 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired honorably after 26 years of service. After retirement, he worked 13 years for the Etowah Post Office before retiring again. He was a member of Dixon Ave Baptist Church in Englewood and was an avid fan of the McMinn Central Lady Chargerettes and the Tennessee Lady Vols. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Cox and Alan Cox. Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Billie Cox of Englewood; children, Sharon Brock of Etowah and Michael Cox and wife Jennifer of White House,TN; grandchildren, Hunter Brock and girlfriend Ansley Vibbert of Etowah, Gavin Cox, and Duncan Cox both of White House TN; sisters, Peggy Wall and husband Lonas of Etowah, Rita Wilson of Michigan, and Ann Black and husband Clarence of Cleveland; brothers, Bobby Cox and wife Sandra of Etowah, Harold Cox of Etowah; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Correll; brothers-in-law, Earl Wright and wife Shirley, and Frank Wright and wife Norma, all of Decatur. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and numerous friends also survive. Service: A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 , from McMinn Memory Gardens with Reverend Alan Watson officiating. Full Military honors and a white dove release ceremony will conclude the services. At Buddy's request, there will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
