Mr. Thomas "Tom" Wallis, Jr., age 75, of Etowah, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, at a local healthcare facility. The son of the late Thomas Wallis Sr, and Madge Francis Foster Wallis, Tom was a native of McMinn County and spent the majority of his life in Michigan. After retirement, he moved back to McMinn County and lived in Etowah the past 15 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Etowah, the Etowah Lion's Club, and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. His passions in life were bicycling, woodworking, working on cars, and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Webber. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Mary Turton Wallis of Etowah; children Meg Braun and husband Eric of Wixom ,Michigan, Tim Wallis and wife Diane of Waterford, Michigan, Miki Arroyo and husband Allen; grandchildren, Kelsey Wallis, Ellie Wallis, Sydney Harding, Davis Harding; and brother, Gary Wallis and wife Trudy of Athens. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with lay speaker Alan Payne officiating.
