Clifford Garrett, age 74, of Englewood, passed away Sunday morning, September 6, 2015, at a local hospital. The son of the late Aldger and Pearl Roberts Garrett, Clifford was born in Monroe County and had lived most of his life in McMinn County. He was an Avid fan of The Alabama Crimson Tide and Jeff Gordon and loved to work in his garden. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, Clifford was also preceded in death by his sister, Jenny Lewis; and brothers, Herman Garrett, Homer Garrett and Jay Garrett. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Vita Peeler Garrett of Englewood; sons, Jeff Garrett and wife Johnnie of Athens and Tramphus Garrett and wife Cary Anne of Etowah; grandchildren, Levi, Shaleah and Lexi; sisters, Frances Henderson of Englewood, Helen Carpenter of Etowah; brothers, Ralph Garrett and wife Phyllis of Lansing, MI, Carl Garrett of Madisonville, Ronnie Garrett of Madisonville , and Bobby Glenn Garrett of Alabama, and Special friend and nephew, Tony Garrett of Madisonville. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends also survive. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 from Sunrise Cemetery with Pastor Scott Cardin from Englewood Church of GOD and Cody Casteel, Children's Director at Zion Hill Baptist Church officiating. A white dove release will conclude the services. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the family to help defray medical and final expenses.
